Getting started
What is Riptide?+
A perpetual futures exchange for meme coins. You can go long or short on graduated coins from Solana, BNB Chain and Robinhood Chain with leverage. Every trade settles in USDC on Solana.
Can I try it without real money?+
Yes. Riptide Paper is the same exchange with free paper USDC and real market prices. No wallet needed: a paper wallet is created in your browser. Switch between Live and Paper from the toggle in the header.
What do I need?+
A Solana wallet (Phantom, Solflare or Backpack), some USDC to use as collateral, and a little SOL for transaction fees. You never need to bridge to BNB Chain or Robinhood Chain.
How do I open a trade?+
Pick a coin on Markets, choose Long or Short, set a size and leverage, then confirm in your wallet. The trade fills in that one transaction at the live oracle price.
How do I close?+
Press Close on the position and pick how much: 25%, 50%, 75%, all of it, or anything in between. Positions can be closed from 20 seconds after opening or adding, and the smallest position is $5 (a close that would leave less closes it all). Your share of the collateral plus or minus PnL, minus fees, goes straight back to your wallet as USDC.
Can I set a take-profit or stop-loss?+
Yes: when you open a trade, or any time after from the position's TP / SL button. When the oracle price reaches your level, the Riptide keeper closes the whole position at that price and the USDC goes to your wallet, exactly as if you'd closed it yourself. The program checks the price on-chain, so it can only close when your level has really been reached. In a fast move the fill can be past your level.
Markets and listings
Which coins are listed?+
Only graduated coins from pump.fun and StonkFun (Solana), four.meme and Flap (BNB Chain), and Pons v2 and Long.xyz (Robinhood Chain). Each listing is approved by hand after checks on liquidity, holders and contract safety.
How new can a coin be?+
Usually 24 to 48 hours after graduation, with about $100k of liquidity and a $1–2M market cap. That's much earlier than most perp venues list a coin.
How do BNB and Robinhood coins work if everything is on Solana?+
Those chains are only used as price sources. Riptide reads the coin's price through Switchboard oracles, while your money and positions stay on Solana.
What do Fresh and Established mean?+
Fresh coins (under 7 days old) trade up to 5x with a $50 maximum position. Established coins trade up to 10x with up to $250 or 20% of the vault, whichever is smaller.
Do the limits grow?+
Yes, with the vault. Every time the vault doubles from its $500 start, the dollar caps rise by half: at a $1,000 vault fresh positions go to $75 and the established ceiling to $375; at $2,000, $112.50 and $562.50; and so on. The percentage limits (25% of the vault per market side, 100% in total) grow with it too.
Fees
Trading fee+
0.10% of position size to open, and 0.10% to close.
Price impact+
A small extra fee on large trades relative to the coin's real liquidity, capped at 2%. It's shown before you trade.
Borrow fee+
0.01–0.05% per hour of position size, rising as a market side fills up. The busier side pays up to 0.03% per hour more. All borrow fees go to the vault.
Liquidation and limits
When am I liquidated?+
When your collateral minus losses and fees falls below the maintenance margin: 5% of size on fresh coins and 2.5% on established ones. The order panel shows your liquidation price before you trade.
What does liquidation cost?+
A 1% fee on the position. Anything left over is refunded to your wallet. Positions over $200 are liquidated in halves when that's enough to make them healthy again.
Is there a profit cap?+
Yes. A single position can win at most 100% of its size, which keeps the vault solvent through a 10x meme pump.
Why is a side full?+
Each market side is capped at 25% of the vault, and lower when the coin's liquidity is thin. Total longs minus shorts is capped at 40% of the vault, and all open interest together at 100%. If one side is full, the other side is usually open.
The vault and safety
Who is on the other side of my trade?+
One protocol-owned USDC vault. It takes the opposite side of every trade, collects fees and losses, and pays out profits.
What are circuit breakers?+
If a coin moves 25% within 15 minutes, new opens on that market pause for 30 minutes. If the vault draws down 15% in a day, all new opens pause. Closing and liquidations keep working.
What is auto-deleveraging?+
If traders' open profit reaches 30% of the vault, the most profitable positions are partly closed at the market price, with no fee, until it's back under 20%. You keep the realised profit.
Where do prices come from?+
Switchboard oracles. Each price is the median of DexScreener, Jupiter or GeckoTerminal, and a 5-minute average. It's pulled fresh inside your own transaction and rejected if it's more than 10–15 seconds old.
How does $RIP fit in?+
$RIP's creator fees from StonkFun are deposited into the vault. See the $RIP page.
Leveraged trading is risky. A small move against you can liquidate your whole position. Riptide is beta software. Nothing here is financial advice.
